RF50mm f/1.2L USM

The f/1.2 aperture is absolutely dreamy for indoor portraits—the subject isolation is incredible even in dim light. I’ve been able to get sharp, creamy results straight out of camera.

The 10-blade diaphragm gives background highlights a perfectly round, creamy shape that my old lens just couldn't manage. Shooting portraits at f/1.2 means I can finally separate a subject from a busy street without cranking up my ISO. It's heavy, sure, but the falloff is worth every ounce.

Shot wide open at a dimly lit restaurant and every candle flame came out as a clean, round orb instead of a messy smear. The 10-blade diaphragm is doing real work here. It's heavy, sure, but the backgrounds just melt away.
